Dear 1-O Families,
This week we have been challenging first graders to show what they know and complete tasks independently in a given period of time. In reader’s workshop first graders have been setting up their reading mats and goals and getting started quietly without reminders. They have been sharing what we need to do to read fluently and what we need to do to help with comprehension. The have been showing their stamina sticking with their reading.
First graders have been meeting the challenge of printing their word wall words neatly. They have been meeting challenges for measurement and learning math facts. We completed our unit 4 Assessment Thursday.

China Show Cancelled for December 16th
We have decided not to have a China Show on Friday, December 16.
The class is doing good work, but as a group they are not
particularly interested in singing the songs, working with their facts or lines.
There’s a lot going on this time of year and first grade don’t need extra stress.
I apologize for planning so early, but for first graders they are better sticking with
their routine. Its very clear to me that I need to follow the kids needs.
With this letter you will find you child First Trimester Report Card
