Dear 1-O Families,

Greetings from 1-O!  Thanks for supporting Acadia Lessard 3-4 W who had the idea of a- “Whole school Pajama Day”.  Many people brought canned or boxed food too to help end 68 hours of hunger.  There were three big boxes of canned goods and boxes in the hall. Donations are always accepted in the front hall.

This week we worked on reading nonfiction with expression.  We looked at some conventions of nonfiction.  The title, table of contents, photographs, headings, and captions. We practiced figuring out tricky words by playing guess the covered word with our reading partner.

In math we used i-ready and worked in our packets and played math games with our reading buddies, 10’s frame top-it, Going to Boston Dice and Bump addition.

We finished our Opinion assessment, and worked on a snow small moment.  We worked on techniques for illustrating our winter books with crayon resist.

In Science, we read Sounds All Around and learned a little about our ears and vocal cords.  We watched how a bow vibrates, and left our throat vibrate as we talked.  We read chapter 1 of Charlie and Mouse, The Book of Mistakes, The Snowy Day, Stranger In the Woods and Snowflakes Falling.

For the next two weeks I am asking you to save and send recycled items for our classroom Makerspace. I have a big box for the items.  Kids will be able to use the items to to make there own creations.

Next week Author Ralph Masiello will visit on Tuesday at 1:25.

On Wednesday Audiologist, Rachel Parkington will come to do a presentation on sound and hearing.

Have a good weekend!

      Mrs. O.
